In another well pitched game by both teams, Game 4 of the 1967 World Series was won 2-1 by the San Francisco Giants over the Detroit Tigers. Mike McCormick, who shutout Detroit in Game 1, went the distance again for the Giants allowing only 4 hits. Willie McCovey had antoher good game for SF going 3 for 3 with 1 RBI. Denny McLain started for Detroit and went 7 innings allowing only 1 earned run, but still ended up with the loss.
The SF Giants now lead the World Series 3 games to 1. Game 5 tomorrow here in San Francisco will feature Gaylord Perry going up against Mickey Lolich. The Giants would love to wrap up the World Series here at home while the Tigers would like to get it back to Detroit.

Mike McCormick went 9 strong innings as the San Francisco Giants defeated the
Detroit Tigers 2 to 1 at Candlestick Park.
San Francisco scored 1 run in the decisive 3rd inning when they came up with 3
base hits. That early scoring was all that McCormick(2-0) needed. Neither
team managed to score after the 3rd inning.
The loss was charged to Denny McLain(0-1). 'I thought it was my best
performance in a long time,' said McCormick. 'I had good command early in the
game. I had my control and composure and everything went well.'
