Trailing 2 games to none, the Detroit Tigers came into San Francisco for the next 3 games in dire need of a win. And win they did. In a very well played game, Detroit came away with a 3-1 victory in Game 3 of the 1967 World Series.
The Giants struck first, scoring a run in the 4th inning off Tiger starter Joe Sparma. In the top of the 5th, Al Kaline hit a solo homerun off Ray Sadecki tying the game at 1. In the 7th inning Don Wert hit a solo shot off Sadecki that proved to be the winning run. Detroit scored another run in the 3rd and the bullpen did the rest of the work shutting down the Giants for the Tiger victory.
The Series stands at 2-1 now still in favor of San Francisco. The Giants have Game 1 winner Mike McCormick starting tomorrow's game. Denny McLain is getting the start for Detroit.

The Detroit Tigers got by the San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park. The
final score was 3 to 1.
San Francisco was unable to claim the lead after Detroit went ahead in the top
of the 7th inning scoring a single run. After an out was recorded, Don Wert
lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'. Detroit had 10 hits for the afternoon.
The victory went to Mike Marshall(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Fred Gladding got the save, his 1st. Ray Sadecki(0-1) absorbed the loss. He
was unable to control the Detroit offense and allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in
7 and 2/3 innings.
