My Detroit Tigers win the AL Championship! It was a good pennant race with Boston and Minnesota. Even Kansas City, the biggest surprise team of the year, factored in. The Athletics were 24 games better than their Actual. My Tigers had a league best +177 Runs for/ Runs against Differential. They were 1st in the AL in Runs Scored with 786, and 5th in pitching. Detroit was +7 Wins better than their actual record. Boston, the actual AL Champion, had exactly their same record.
Another team that was well off their actual record, but in a bad way, was the New York Yankees. They were 21 games worse. The Yankees pitching was last in the AL. Mel Stottlemyer finished 6-26 with a 4.26 ERA. Their hitting was even worse than the pathetic Chicago White Sox offensive attack. The poor White Sox pitchers. They were the best in baseball, but Chicago never challenged for the pennant as in real life because of their poor hitting. Cleveland finished above .500 and the California Angels were just below. Washington and Baltimore didn't offer much to the season except for the Senators Frank Howard. He was a monster power hitter finishing 3rd in HR and RBI in the AL.
