With their backs to the wall trailing 2-0, the Chicago Cubs exploded for 5 runs in the 7th inning and went on to defeat the SF Giants 7-4 in Game 2 of the NL Playoff. Ron Santo went 3 for 5 and got the key hit in the rally, a 2-run single. Bill Hands pitched just well enough to get the Win. Ron Herbel took the Loss for SF. The 3rd and deciding game will be played tomorrow.

Third baseman Ron Santo had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Chicago Cubs defeated
the San Francisco Giants 7 to 4 at Candlestick Park.
In the 7th inning Chicago scored 5 runs when they came up with 5 base hits.
The biggest moment was provided by Santo who silenced the crowd when he laced
a one-base hit scoring two baserunners. Chicago finished with 13 hits while
San Francisco ended up with 7.
The winning pitcher was Bill Hands(12-6) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Ron
Herbel(8-6) was charged with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 7 hits in 6 and
1/3 innings.
