1967 NL Playoff Game: The Giants Win the Pennant!

 October 5, 1967

The San Francisco Giants are the 1967 NL Champions. The Giants took Game 3 of their playoff series against the Chicago Cubs 6-1. Ray Sadecki took a no-hitter into the 6th inning for the Giants who put 3 runs on the scoreboard in the 2nd inning. The Cubs scored a run in the 6th to make it 3-1, but Willie McCovey hit a 2-run homer in the 7th and SF added another run in the 8th to finish the scoring.
The Chicago Cubs had led the NL since the middle of July but San Fransisco kept close all year and finally pulled ahead at the end of the season. After a day off, the Giants will travel to Detroit for the start of the 1967 World Series.
