Jim Lonborg reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts at Fenway Park where the
Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Athletics 5 to 4.

Lonborg(20-9) gave a fine effort for Boston. He went 9 innings surrendering
10 hits and no walks. Kansas City had a chance to come back in the 9th but
they came up short.

Catfish Hunter(16-9) absorbed the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 6
innings. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Lonborg offered,
'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout
totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of
course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
