Al Kaline hit for the cycle and had 6 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the
California Angels by the score of 11 to 5 at Anaheim Stadium.
Kaline enjoyed a great evening at the plate. He tripled which was good for
two runs in the 1st inning, slapped a base-hit in the 6th inning, doubled
bringing in a run in the 7th inning and belted a three-run homer in the 8th
inning. Detroit had a total of 11 hits for the game.
Mickey Lolich(13-8) allowed 3 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory.
Jack Hamilton(3-7) took the loss. Wth the win Detroit now has a record of a
league leading 78-52. With the loss, the California ballclub's record is
62-66.
