Don Pavletich had 4 hits and 6 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Los
Angeles Dodgers by a score of 11 to 4 at Dodger Stadium.
Pavletich was a source of great heartache for the Los Angeles faithful all
evening. He just kept pounding out hits! He singled resulting in a run in
the 1st inning, laced a single in the 6th inning, doubled plating two runs in
the 7th inning and lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 9th
inning. Cincinnati had 12 hits overall, while Los Angeles had 6.
Sammy Ellis(8-8) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Claude
Osteen(11-15) was the losing pitcher. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10
hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Pavletich was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the
ball real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying
off. That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes
along.'
