1967 NL Game: Cin. @ Atl.

 July 25, 1967

    Cincinnati's Tony Perez hit 3 homeruns and drove in 4 runs as the Reds defeated the Atlanta Braves tonight 6-2. Perez is the 3rd player to hit 3 HR in a game this season in the NL. Gary Nolan went the distance for Cincinnati getting his 8th Win of the year. The Reds really needed the win tonight, it was only the 2nd in their last 10 games. The rough stretch has seen the team drop from 2nd place to 6th in the tightly contested NL pennant race.

Tony Perez knocked 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Gary Nolan went the distance
as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Atlanta Braves by the score of 6 to 2 at
Fulton Co Stadium.
 
Perez had a great evening at the plate.  He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st
inning, ripped a solo home run in the 4th inning and smashed a solo-shot out
of the park in the 8th inning.  Cincinnati finished with 9 hits in the
victory.  
 
Nolan(8-7) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Pat Jarvis(7-6)
suffered the loss.  He allowed 4 runs and 6 hits in 7 innings.  
 
'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed.  Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Dave Bristol.  'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together
and turn things around!'
