1967 AL Game: KC @ Det.

 June 18, 1967

Kansas City came into Detroit this weekend for a 3 game series against the AL's 1st place team. The A's have been a big surprise this season and continued their fine level of play by taking 2 of 3 games from Detroit. In today's game Catfish Hunter became the AL's 2nd 10 game winner, leading Kansas City to a 10-2 victory. The A's led 5-2 heading into the 9th inning before blowing the game open with a big 5 run outburst.
The win knocked Detroit out of 1st place and moved Kansas City within 1 game of the top spot. The logjam in the race for the pennant has gotten even tighter with the Minnesota Twins now holding the lead.
