1967 NL Game: Chi. @ SF

 September 8, 1967

   5 days after pitching an 11 inning no-hitter, SF's Ray Sadecki shutout the league leading Chicago Cubs 4-0. Chicago is in San Francisco for a big 3 game series between the top 2 teams in the NL. Sadecki was outstanding on the hill as he allowed only 3 hits, walking 3 and striking out 8. He has now not allowed a run in his last 24 innings pitched. With the win, the Giants moved within 1 game of the Cubs.

Ray Sadecki threw a 3 hit shutout and Jim Ray Hart had 2 base hits as the San
Francisco Giants defeated the Chicago Cubs by the score of 4 to 0 at
Candlestick Park.
 
Sadecki(10-8) escaped virtually unscathed against the Chicago hitters.  He
gave up just 3 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings.  San Francisco had 9 hits for
the night.  
 
Joe Niekro(8-11) absorbed the loss.  'I thought it was my best performance in
a long time,' said Sadecki. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my
control and composure and everything went well.'
