1967 AL Game: NY @ Cle.

 August 11, 1967

Mel Stottlemyre of the New York Yankees became the first 20 game loser in MLB this season when the Cleveland Indians defeated NY 6-2 tonight. Even though the Yankees have been dreadful this season, Stottlemyre can't blame his poor record on a lack of hitting or bad defense. He's just pitched badly. His record now stands at 3-20 with a 4.90 ERA.
After winning the Cy Young Award last year (in my 1966 asplayed replay) and NY's surprising 2nd place finish, much was expected from Stottlemyre and the team this year. But it looks like they've reverted to what was expected for them last season, and I'm willing to bet they can't wait for this year to come to an end.
