August 1, 1967
League Leaders in the AL as of August 1, 1967. Detroit's Al Kaline, just back from a month long stretch on the IL, has the top BA (.360) in the AL. Boston's Carl Yastrzemski is still making a bid for the triple Crown. Minnesota's Harmon Killebrew (27 HR, 70 RBI) and Rod Carew (.333 BA) have powered the Twins attack this year. Kansas City's surprising showing this season can partly be attributed to the pitching of Catfish Hunter (15-5, 2.23 ERA, 152 K) and Chuck Dobson (9-4, 2.04 ERA). SS Bert Campaneris has also instilled fear on the bases with 63 steals so far this season.
