1967 AL Game: Chi. @ KC

 July 21, 1967

Just getting back to my 1967 replay for the first time in 3 months. I completed my 2006 replay while away from this one. When reviewing the season from where I left off, I was reminded how well the Kansas City Athletics have been playing. Well above their actual performance.
In real life, the team was in a bit of a turmoil with all the rumors going around. It was said the A's owner Charles Finley wanted to move the franchise to Oakland California. Not knowing what their future might be, it wouldn't be surprising if the players had been very distracted. The A's finished 62- 99 in '67, good for last place in the AL. But the team had a number of promising players and soon after they moved to Oakland in '68 they became a powerhouse in the AL West.
The A's aren't laying down in this '67 replay and are currently in 3rd place, just 2 games back. In todays game, one of their stars, Jim "Catfish' Hunter, won his AL leading 14th game of the season when KC defeated the Chicago White Sox 3-2. KC has been winning mostly with fine pitching and aggressive offensive play. They don't hit many homeruns, but they do lead the AL in stolen bases and try to take the extra base on balls hit in play. It'll be interesting to see how the team finishes in this replay.
Below is today's game, the AL Standings and the teams' Primary Stats as of 7-22-67.
