1967 NL Game: Atl. @ Phil.

 June 14, 1967

Philadelphia's Larry Jackson became the first 10 game winner in MLB this season by pitching a gem against the Atlanta Braves. Jackson went the distance in the 2-0 shutout victory over the Braves. The Phillies scored a single run in the 1st inning and that would be all Jackson needed. He allowed only 5 hits in the game and lowered his ERA to 1.97 on the season.

Larry Jackson had a strong outing as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the
Atlanta Braves by a score of 2 to 0 at Connie Mack Stadium.

Philadelphia claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring a single run
on 3 base hits. Tony Gonzalez lashed a single. Tony Taylor stepped up next
and he delivered a base-hit. Dick Allen was next to the plate, but was
promptly struck out. One out later, Don Lock came to the plate and laced a
base-knock scoring the run. That early run support was all that
Jackson(10-2) required. Philadelphia finished with 7 hits in the victory.

Ken Johnson(6-4) took the loss. Gene Mauch was very impressed with his
pitcher, Jackson, 'He had unusually good pitch placement tonight. It was
almost unfair - but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'
