1967 NL Game: Phil. @ Pitt.

 Sept. 1, 1967

   Philadelphia's Larry Jackson became the first pitcher to Win 20 games in MLB this season as the Phillies defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-4. Jackson went the distance in the victory, allowing 4 runs, 1 earned, to improve his record to 20-8.

Larry Jackson allowed Gene Mauch to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Rick Joseph had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Forbes Field where the
Philadelphia Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 7 to 4.
 
In the 5th inning Philadelphia went on top for good plating 3 runs using 2
hits.  Johnny Callison led off and started the rally when he laced a
base-hit.  Tony Gonzalez came next and he was hit by a pitch.  Don Lock then
drew a walk to load the bases.  Gene Oliver stepped in and he grounded into a
double play.  Tony Taylor came to the plate and was walked intentionally to
load the bases.  Joseph kept the rally going and lined a one-base hit
knocking in a run.  Bobby Wine stepped up next and he reached on an error
adding another two runs to their total.  The Pittsburgh batters didn't put up
a fight in the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Jackson(20-8) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Woodie
Fryman(7-5) was hit with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 2
walks in 4 innings.  
 
Philadelphia continued their winnings ways improving their record to 66-65.
They are 8-2 in their last ten games.  With the loss, Pittsburgh has a record
of 3-7 lately, 70-64 overall.
